Getting Started / FAQ
So you'd like or need to make a little extra cash each month? There are lots of ways to make money online in your spare time, and on this website, we'll be going through several types of sites. Be advised, you will not become rich doing this. (Though some have managed to be able to make a living...it gives you something to work towards, I guess.) You will however, be able to make enough to pay for some of your monthly bills or save up to go on a shopping spree. Whatever it is, making money online is an easy and fun thing to do! Click the LJ cut for some tips about getting started!
First, before you do anything else, you'll want to open up a new e-mail account to use when you sign up because a few sites do spam your e-mail, plus it will be easier to keep track of everything. I personally recommend using gmail because you can label your e-mails according to site, their spam filter works great, and they have a ton of storage space. Regardless, feel free to choose whichever e-mail site you are comfortable with using.
Next, you'll want to be sure you have a way of receiving the money that you'll be earning. Most sites pay through either a payment processor like Paypal, or a check that will be sent to you. Checks are simple, so I won't be covering that, but many of you are probably not familiar with Paypal. It is one of the oldest and most trusted online payment processors. You can sign up for a personal account which is absolutely free. When you cash-out of a site that uses Paypal, the money will be sent to your Paypal account. You can then either request that it be sent to you in a check from Paypal, wire it to your bank account, or just let it accumulate and then have fun shopping online!
Now you're ready to start signing up with some sites and make some cash! Below you will find the sites that I love and personally use most often, but there are tons of others out there. How, you may be asking, can you spot a scam site? First of all, if a site seems too good to be true, it definitely is. (For example, I found a site the other day that claimed to give you $50 per e-mail that you read...scam!) If you are surfing around and find any site that you are unsure of, feel free to leave a comment to this post with the website in question, and I will check it out for you. Don't feel bad though if it turns out to be a scam site, almost everyone has made that mistake at some time or another.
How Many Sites Should I Join?
This is entirely up to you and depends on how much time you have and how much money you would like to earn each month. I recommend starting out small, and then as you get used to how everyone works adding on more and more gradually. You do not want to start out with too many and then get burned-out with too much to do each day and a confusing mess. Just start small, and you'll know when you've reached your limit.
I hope that you found this to be a helpful guide for getting started. If you have any further questions, or see something that I have overlooked, please do not hesitate to leave a comment to this post and I'll help you out as soon as I can. Good luck, and have fun!
